Yeah, It's been a while... but we are Back! with a whole lotta new
Tracks and a few more Photos & Videos, plus we have
just launched our new Radio Stations, WDTP - The DropTop Radio Network, and WGMX - The Rug Rap Radio Network, featuring various
Michigan Artists from SoundClick.com. We are currently updating various
sections of our new website, working on the
MUSIC,
PLAYLIST &
VIDEOS sections of our
website... We are also in the process of uploading over 700+ plus music
files, and reloading our New Community
Bulletin Board... New as of July 4th, we have officially launched our Community Homepage, the fully
customizable DTP

| We have been working hard
towards the completion of the long awaited... DTP FAMILY & FRIENDS, Grand CD Release! 33 CD's with a minimum of 17 unreleased songs
per CD, totaling over 570 never before heard jam sessions, recorded Live at
Ground Control Studios in Lansing, Michigan, during several open mic
Freestyle Jamathons from 2000 thru 2008, Including members from both the past and
present DTP Family. With what felt like a decade of having to filter through
over 5000+ recordings, we has managed to narrow it down to 1000 of the
Greatest Hitz, from there, we have added a couple extra tracks and samples
to beef them up. Hard to believe, but what is about to be released, run off
90% proof Freestlye, sliced and diced for your listening pleasure. You will
not be disappointed... Is it Freestyle or Memorex?
Unlike what you may be use to, as far as freestyle goes, these are seasoned
rappers, trained to perform under pressure! meaning: a beat gets dropped,
moments before entering the booth! No rehearsals, No writing
to the beat! It don't get no more creative as this! Raw straight off the
Jaw! In fact... to label these as Freestyles, just don't describe the magic,
so we created our own new genre of what we do, which will now & forever
formally be known as Rug-Rap! 'The Next Generation' So get ready to dig in
and get a big scoop of the things we do, when we are doing the do, for we are only weeks away from finalizing the song
choices and laying out the CD arrangements. Yeah, long over due, but sure to entertain,
may the sounds of our struggle and our will to survive the game, ring forth
for the next generation on... Long live Rug-Rap!
The DTP has walked in many shoes and crossed various genres,
displaying unique styles, personalities and characters. Sometimes expressing
conflicted views of life, trials and tribulations, living everyday in the
struggle to survive and change our stars, with an ear to the streets and a
heart beat of passion, we will one day reach out
& grab yah... You are not alone! Feel the pain! Enjoy the pleasures! for our
journey has really only just begun... For we are on a Mission to make
Change! One soul at a time... Warning! - we tend to grow on yah like a
fungus... Beware! - we intend to spread our seeds... |

The
DTP Family go back over 20 years... It was 1984 when the formation first began, in the streets
of Lansing, Michigan, raised in the roots @ the dawn of Hip Hop...
What began, from a couple of youngsters growing up within the inner
city culture of urban music, former Boogie Skaters, SirRon & Wougbe, later joined
by DJ Glaze from Chicago, is what then propelled them into the grooves of the
Break Dancing Scene and Hip Hop phenomenon, from there the 'Circuit
Breakers' were born. Influenced from the sounds of Detroit and Chicago, as
well as having several connections through DJ Glaze's national network of
Imported albums and mix tapes, the DTP were always ahead of the sounds,
dancing street-to-street, school, clubs and at local events, the 3 man team
grew 7 deep and later transformed into the legendary, Side Ride Crew. Photo
taken outside Cobo Hall, Detroit, 84' before the Fresh Fest concert
featuring: Run DMC, Whodini, Kirtus Blow, Fat Boys & Newcleus.
To broaden their knowledge & tone there skills, SirRon, Glaze & Wougbe later took up Radio & TV Production classes together at
Harry Hill Educational Center, which further lead them along the road into
the recording & production aspects of the music and entertainment trade,
from where which they first began to weaved their craftsmanship for their
unique rhythm and rhyming talents. From that moment on, it was all about
Hip-Hop... mic check, mic check,
with the unique styles of SirRon, Chill Will, Wougbe De and GMG ~ Grand
Master Glaze, behind the wheels of steel, known as
Speak Eazzy.
As the years rolled by, Glaze, Wougbe and SirRon
continued recording live freestyle sessions, with various Artists and local
groups. As written words were slowly introduced into the mix, the term
"One-Track Artist" took on new meaning & became their motto, dropping 90%
proof Freestyle! Straight off the Jaw - Rough, Rugged & Raw!
Rug-Rap was born! Soon to become the Masters of Rap Improvisation with a
unique forte to drop in song format, The DTP later recruited
additional, like minded members and transformed themselves once again into,
IIIrd Degree & The Drop Top Posse.

As the new Millennium approached, Ground Control
Studios went Digital, and The DTP was re-energized! as a second wave of
artists joined the mission and minds where merged, as the recording sessions
turned into Freestyle Jamathons, lasting for hours on end, reaching peaks of
35 recordings per session... featuring such Artists as Pain, Big Perm, D-Syde,
Nicky Bondz, Ghetto Hunky, Link (bob-g), Raven Nightshade, Human Lyndrum,
Mr. Smizzle (smiley), Young Nitty, Majestik, Drako, Bam Bam, Mr. Blunt, Mystery
Mind, Carter, 7th World and many more... Including yours truly, SirRon, Glaze & Wougbe, the
only remaining members from the original Old School Crew!

Productions is ready to roll out their Greatest Hitz... featuring the
following groups: The DTP Family, Mystik Mindz, Ganja Gang, Nasty North,
lIIrd Degree & The Micronautz... Look Out!

existence and persistence of The DTP is

The Six Pack ::: 3 sets of Brothers! Wougbe, SirRon & Criag, and their
younger brothers Martin, Jimmy & Tim (each 2 years apart from the elders) growing
up as an intertwined family,
the back bone and source of our
creativity and style formation. The name DTP Family, arrived from our group name Drop
Top Posse & our production company Drop Top Productions. Wougbe & Glaze are the heart of the DTP
and have spent the
last 20
years gradually setting up make-shift studios from
place to place, recording local rappers, as well as dropping tracks
of their own. Now
3000+ Recordings later, the world is about to hear, what has never been
heard, view what has never been seen, and expose their personal life
struggles, for your entertainment... enjoy! |
